The State Govt. is committed to uplift the living standard of rural masses as the majority of Indian population lives in villages. Naturally, health and physical fitness is also an important part of human lives. The Yoga is the most popular means of exercise to keep the body fit and fine. Basically, Yoga word has been derived from Sanskrit which means union of the Individual Consciousness or soul with the Universal Consciousness or Spirit. Many of us think of Yoga only as a physical exercise where people twist, turn, stretch and breathe in the most complex ways, these are actually only the most superficial aspects of this profound science of unfolding the infinite potential of human mind and soul. The science of Yoga imbibes itself the complete incense of the way of life. Recently, the Yoga has been adopted in most of the countries and even 21st June, 2015 has been celebrated as “International Yoga Day”. In order to promote Yoga, the State Govt. has decided to set up Park-cum-Vayayamshalas in the villages.
In 1st phase, 1000 Park-cum-Vyayamshalas @ 10 per Assembly Constituency including villages where block level sports stadium is already in existence has been decided to be established. The Park-cum-Vayayamshalas is to be established over a suitable piece of 2 acres of land within the 500 meter radius of village abadi identified by the District Administration through a Committee of DDPO, BDPO, SDO & Sarpanch etc.  At present there are more than 250 Block level stadia are available in different districts.
A standard drawing and design alongwith rough cost estimate of Rs.28 lakh has been approved by the Government. As per this standard drawing, the following facilities are being provided in each Park-cum-Vyayamshala:―

The construction of Shed, Boundary wall, Installation of Tube well, Development of Park and children rides would be taken up by the HRDF/Development and Panchayats Department’s Plan schemes in convergence with different schemes of other Departments and panchayat funds. The ownership and maintenance of these Vayayamshalas will remain with the Gram Panchayats and its affairs will be looked after by a Committee comprising of Sarpanch, 2 Panch, Gram Sachiv and JE(PR) of the concerned Gram Panchayats. The Sport Department would provide a yoga coach/ instructor in each of the Vayayamshalas.
